Membership and Members
Potential New Members
Remember! If you know someone who might be interested in becoming a member of Alpha Alpha, you can invite them to attend any meeting. Just make sure a meal reservation is made for them.
Emily Fisher will have the forms to be filled out by women wishing to become a member at the October and November meetings. We will also have information from Delta Kappa Gamma and the newly created folder for our chapter.
Red Roses
In the past few months these members have achieved something noteworthy.
Megan Beckwith was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Youngstown State University.
Eileen Dragon and the rest of the Science Department at Geneva Schools received the Ohio Governor’s Thomas Edison Award for Excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Education (STEM). This teaches students a thinking process that can be used in all subject areas including the arts.
Oleta Swaney (who is in her 90’s ) participated in a 5K race. Olita is one of our new initiates.
Marlene Laidley started out teaching Spanish and English in the Jefferson Schools. That’s where she met Jon Laidley. They married and Marlene took time off to have two children – a boy and a girl. Marlene is now a widow as her husband passed away unexpectedly quite a few years ago. Marlene loves to babysit for her four grandchildren.
When she retired, Marlene was a guidance counselor at Jefferson Junior High. That’s where she met and became good friends with Pat Inman. They know each other so well that they can finish each other’s …
Marlene is very active in her community and especially with the Jefferson Historical Society and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She is the publicity chairman for the Historical Society. Marlene is very creative in making up games, activities, etc. for groups to which she belongs.
Everyone who knows her says, “If you need something done, ask Marlene.”
